Croatian club docked two points over unpaid wages to former coaches

Croatian top-flight club HNK Sibenik have been given a two-point penalty for failing to pay outstanding wages to former managers Mario Cvitanovic and Damir Canadi, the leagues disciplinary committee said.

Sibenik, bottom of the standings, had not paid their dues before the start of their match against Gorica last week.

A one point penalty applies to each unresolved case and will remain in effect until the club settles the outstanding wages or six months have passed, whichever comes first, the committee said.

Sibenik are at risk of relegation, having taken 28 points from 33 games, and trail ninth-placed Lokomotiva by six points. Their next league fixture is against Rijeka on Saturday. REUTERS
