Boy admits to stabbing man in Tokyo arrested for attempted murder
TOKYO – A teenager was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on the morning of Feb 24 after admitting to stabbing a man on a street in Adachi ward, Tokyo, in the predawn hours of the same day, the police said.
At around 4.15am local time, the police received a call saying: “My friend stabbed me. There is glass stuck (in my body).”
Officers from the Nishiarai Police Station of the Metropolitan Police Department found a young man bleeding from his right chest at the scene. He was taken to hospital, where he was confirmed dead about an hour later.
A 17-year-old was present at the scene and admitted to stabbing the man. He was arrested immediately.
A knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was found at the scene, according to a senior police officer. The two are believed to have known each other, and the police are expected to switch the charge to murder.
