SEA GamesBANGKOK - Avir Tham struck gold in diving for Singapore on Dec 17 in the men’s 1m springboard final.
At the aquatic centre in the Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi campus in Samut Prakan, Tham scored 370.35 to finish first out of nine competitors to win the Gold medal.
It is also is a new personal best for the 21-year-old, who won a silver in this event in 2022.
This is Singapore’s first diving gold since 2017, when Ashlee Tan and Fong Kay Yian won the women’s 3m synchronised springboard event.
The duo had initially clinched silver in Kuala Lumpur, but were awarded the gold later after Malaysian diver Wendy Ng – who finished first with diving partner Nur Dhabitah Sabri – was banned following a failed doping test.
