Malaysia man drives 2km not knowing 3 year old son had fallen out of car window
A man in Malaysia’s Pahang state drove 2km before realising that his three-year-old son, who had been travelling with him, was no longer in the car.
It turned out the child had likely fallen out through a rear window when the father stopped the vehicle earlier to take a call, the police said.
The incident happened on April 7 at around 11am, said Lipis police chief Ismail Man.
The 36-year-old father and the child were travelling from a hardware store in Tempoyang, when he stopped by the side of the road at the 5km mark of Jalan Lipis-Merapoh to answer a phone call.
He continued driving after the call, only to realise at the 7km mark of the road that his son was no longer in the vehicle.
“(The father) tried to search for his son but failed, so he went to the Kuala Lipis police station to make a report,” said Mr Ismail.
It was there that the father was informed his child had been taken to a clinic by a member of the public who was passing through Jalan Lipis-Merapoh.
The child, who was alone on the road, had sustained a facial injury. He later received treatment at Hospital Kuala Lipis.
Mr Ismail added that police are investigating the case.
